What is Media?
Media is anything that carries information between a source to a receiver. The purpose of media is to facilitate communication and learning. There are six categories of media and they are text, audio, visuals, video, manipulative, and people. The text may be displayed in any format like book, poster, chalkboard, or computer screen. The audio includes anything that a person can hear. Visual is regularly used to promote learning that uses diagrams. Manipulates are three dimensional and can be touched and handled by students. People are critical to learning. Students learn from teachers, other students, and adults. In the classroom I will use concrete experiences with actual involvement of the student. Also have simulations and role-plays used as a learning tool. I can used demonstrations, exhibits, and video for observation. During the abstract experiences that is where the students used more audio and text in there learning.
